Atlantic Yacht Sales Chester Race Week Results – Day 3

Chester, Nova Scotia – August 15, 2025 – Day 3 of Atlantic Canada’s premier keelboat regatta delivered lively conditions on Mahone Bay, with steady winds fueling fast-paced racing across all divisions. Crews pushed hard into the weekend, with overall standings tightening and several fleets setting up for thrilling final-day showdowns.

Bluenose Course – One Design Division

The Bluenose fleet was topped by Reprobates and Ringers (Chris Megaffin, Mahone Bay, NS), who sailed consistently to secure the win. Teazer (Connor Mraz, Brooklyn, NY) finished in second, while Afterglow (Nathan Reece, Dartmouth, NS) claimed third.

One Design Racing – Farr 30

In the Farr 30 class, HeadFirst3 (Peter Toombs, Charlottetown, PEI) rose to the top, with Matador (Greg Blunden, Halifax, NS) close behind in second and Goose (Ben Maloney, Bedford, NS) taking third.

IOD Class

Storm (Peter Wickwire, Halifax, NS) continued a strong series with first place, followed by Enigma (Max Flinn, Halifax, NS) in second and Restless (Ted Murphy, Mahone Bay, NS) third.

Sonar Class

The Sonar fleet saw Ping (Andreas Josenhans, Lunenburg, NS) at the front, ahead of So-Gnarly (Thomas Dauphinee, Lunenburg, NS) in second and Echo (John Franklin, Mahone Bay, NS) in third.

PHRF A Division

In PHRF NS A1, Overdraft X (James Gogan, Halifax, NS) held the lead, followed by Jane (Andrew Childs, Halifax, NS) in second and Bad Dog (Roby Douglas, Halifax, NS) in third.

In PHRF NS A2, Falcon (Todd Wilson, Chester Basin, NS) took the win, with Youngblood (Larry Creaser, Chester, NS) second and Dog Party (Terry McKenna, Charlottetown, PE) third.

The J/105 sub-division saw Auster II (Rob Merchant, Halifax, NS) in first with Colmonell (Scott Christie, Halifax, NS) in second and McMac (Sean McDermott, Dartmouth, NS) third.

PHRF B Division

In PHRF NS B1, Poohsticks (Colin Mann, Second Peninsula, NS) claimed the win, ahead of Painkiller (Paul Fillbe-Dexter, Halifax, NS) and Scotch Mist (Chris MacDonald, Halifax, NS).

PHRF NS B2 (Sport Boats) was led by Great White (Mitchell Horn, Marriotts Cove, NS), followed by Tetris (Graham Hart, Halifax, NS) and Bangarang (Justin Bean, Head of St. Margaret’s Bay, NS).

In PHRF NS B3, Just Add Water (Jesleine Baker, Halifax, NS) continued strong form in first, with Dark Water (Donald K. Walker, Dartmouth, NS) in second and Rollback (Margo Coughlin, Halifax, NS) third.

PHRF NS B4 saw Dirty Blonde – Good Friday (Percy MacDonald, Brookside, NS) take the win, with King of Normandy (Francois Guitton, Halifax, NS) second and Wai Whare (Anthony Steven, Upper LaHave, NS) third.

Pursuit Division

In Pursuit A, Spice (Chris Campbell, Chester, NS) led the way, with Vagrant (Grant Gordon, Dartmouth, NS) second and MacIntosh (Durk Steigenga, Blandford, NS) third.

In Pursuit B, Squall (Capt. Bradison Boutilier, Hubbards, NS) finished first, followed by Flashdance (Donald Gass, Boutilier’s Point, NS) and Second Lady (Steve Mallett, Dartmouth, NS).

Atlantic Yacht Sales Chester Race Week concludes Saturday, with champions to be crowned across all fleets.
