Chester Race Week is all about great racing on the water and a fun, welcoming atmosphere ashore. From competitive fleets and top-notch race management to live music, social events, and an incredible volunteer community, Race Week delivers an unforgettable experience both on and off the water.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Peter Baylis, the unforgettable lead singer of The Hopping Penguins. For more than 30 years, the Penguins has performed at Race Week, and Sailing World called them the “Sound of Chester Race Week.” Peter’s incredible voice, energy, and charisma were at the heart of it all. Peter was a gifted frontman, a positive force, and a genuinely wonderful person. He passed away at just 62, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and bandmates. His music and spirit will always be part of Chester Race Week. ❤️🎶 Rest easy, Peter. Thank you for the memories.
