Storm Match Racing is the first team to earn a berth to The US Match Racing Championship this October at Chicago Yacht Club, winning the 2025 edition of the David Storrs USMRC qualifier hosted by Oakcliff Sailing in Oyster Bay, NY. We won the final 3-1 over current U.S. Champions, Pearson Potts’ team, Guardians of the Monohull. David was a friend and fierce competitor, so it is really a big deal for us to win this event three years in a row. Thank you Landon Storrs and thank you Oakcliff. Next stop for Storm Match Racing is Ficker Cup at LBYC to try to sail our way into the 2025 Congressional Cup. A special thank you to Alfonso Garcia Bringas, Dan MacMillan, Harry Prager and the indomitable force that is Travis Odenbach for coming together and getting it done. Travis is current J22 and J24 World Champion and brought an intensity and drive to the program that carried the day. We cannot thank him enough for his attitude, focus and drive (I’ve not experienced anything like it and I’ve been at this for a spell).
